Smart Cone was the brainchild of D3 Events who run the Land Rover Driving Experience from their base in Herefordshire. When they wanted to produce a driving experience for Jaguar’s Art of Performance Tour they approached JCSys to design and develop the technology to deliver it. A fly away system that harnesses the OXTS XNAV series of GPS/GLONASS/SBS receivers that could be deployed anywhere and rapidly set up by non-technical personnel.
Following on from the success of Smart Cone® D3 Events entered the world of Drift Cars, a test of driver’s speed and skill while drifting within millimeters of steel barrels, walls and trees. JCSys again delivered the technology and software to make it a truly crowd drawing experience to score the drivers on proximity to the obstacles and speed across the course. This was delivered at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2019 and 2021.
